No more Astro

Thank goodness. In the midst of moving house, I forgotten to pay the Astro bill dated 18th Jan 2010 and my service was suspended yesterday. So being a good customer I went to the new Astro counter at KK Times square to enquire. So being told that I got a debt of previous month and current month bill totalled to RM230.00. Wow, the customer service lady is real straight to the point. To activate the service, RM20 charge, cannot waive. To terminated the service, RM500 will be charge to my account. So what to do??? Well I ask her to terminate my account and left without paying. I could live without Astro. Astro will ban me, so what. No more Astro.

Thinking back, I just wonder. Why?
Astro being a private company will rather loose a customer for a small sum of RM20.00 with a past due debt of 15days.
It already cost me more than that going to their office.

New year new residence

Being occupied with the chores of moving house for the past few days. Inilah nasib penyewa rumah. Term up gotta move. My new residence is an aged single storey terrace house. Very spacious compared with the apartment that we stayed previously. Now I need to walk 60 ft from my tv couch to the kitchen rather than 15ft. Good for me as the distance will be a tremendous help to my health. ah ha ha.

Fish in the lake

Feeding the fishes at Tun Fuad lake with our left-over bread on x'mas day. My favourite fish is the giant catfish that only appear in the late afternoon.

Another calming view is the school of fishes that goes in circle.

Ops Kasih

The "infant factory" and the baby for sale scandal open a pandora box of the dark side of our social life. it seem that the business is there to meet a certain demand of the market. Most customer are just fulfilling the natural call of a complete family. And they want to remove the social stigma of adoption and for it to remain a secret by falsifying the birth cert. It's their way of expressing their love  and thinking about the baby's future. Yes this baby selling is a crime, but it's also a social issue which we need to resolve.

Does the authorities think about the ultimate welfare of the babies in their continuing saga to unearth the whole truth? Instead of getting the wholesome happy loving family to surrender the babies to welfare dept, won't it be better for the welfare dept to visit those family and provide supervision and counseling.

Hope

Some jolly good guys are having a hope party in PJ. Hope for a successful and fruitful event.

From their website,
They has been going around asking these 3 questions :
1) What is hope to you?
2) What do you hope for?
3) How can you make your hope come true?

for some choice answers to compiled into a book.

As for old me,
1) Hope is like buying a lottery kebajikan.
2) Always Hope to strike the jackpot . Sweet dreams are make of these.
3) Keep buying the ticket.

Actually now I hope for peace and loving community. Most of all, food on the table so that nobody goes to sleep on an empty stomach.

GST

No doubt the current GST debate is very 1 sided with most people against the implementation of GST. Our main concern is the uncertainty of this GST monster.

Our Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah said it would be a win-win situation for all as the Government would be receiving an additional RM1bil in revenue for the first year - from the current RM12bil to RM13bil. At the same time, he said businesses would save RM4.1bil in taxes and the export sector would save RM1.4bil. read Thestar
What about us? How it affect an ordinary person? From whom our government able to collect the RM1bil?

How much it will cost our government to implement and how much for the private sector to comply?
How many of our SME is ready for this POS tax collection system bearing in mind that currently quite a substantial of our family run businesses are still very much cash based.

But not all bad things will be always bad.
One thing for sure, this GST thing will create a lot of business for the Point-of-sale (POS) "cash register machine" and the computer system supplier and probably accountants.

In future, maybe the states and local authorities can tag along and add a few % onto it to circumvent the tight control of federal government on state's income.

"Never take some one for granted, Hold every person Close to your Heart because you might wake up one day and realise that you have lost a diamond while you were too busy collecting stones."

Health

Got my blood and urine test result from Pathlab. The good doc says my report is colourful as they high-lighted those that is not within normal parameter.

As usual my uric acid is high etc etc. Doc explained the report to me and tell me how to take care of this old body of mine.

Finally he suggested the following:
Drink more water say about 3l daily.
Exercise more often.
take supplement of iron and omega3
reduce sugar and protein.

i think this holistic approach is achievable to me.
Drinking more water shouldn't be an issue. just gotta take a gulp every now and then.

Since last month, I joined the soaring crane qigong class. with this 3 times a week class plus my weekend bukit padang workout, I think the sweating time is there.

Tea with Bryan

Met Bryan Sim for tea and seek his advice. It's suppose to be a short appointment but ends up, we have a long conversation.
This warrior is really good at what he is doing. Giving direction to those needed most. Use the map, you won't get lost. No wonder his business is doing well.

Kind of saying ...."We host Sabah"

Poor quality products

Have been staying in UA for a year now. I moved into a brand new apartment but within a year, was having so much trouble with the plumbing fixtures. Most are not made to last long.

The handle of this tap drop off with normal usage. The connection looks flimsy, more like being glued on.

The kitchen gooseneck was rusted from inside and it's handle broken. What kind of material used? No wonder everybody need to filter their water now.

Even the valve handle near the meter has rusted. Don't they test the durability of the product?
